I hope we all remember that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Therefore, it is always essential to get it right and have varieties available. It is also necessary to keep it nutritious, but light enough to pull you through, perhaps a busy morning.
As a home maker and mother, there have been times in the past where I struggled with what breakfast to make for my fam bam. I would search for inspiration ideas, but one thing I never really got was an all-encompassing list including Nigerian options. All I got were bits and pieces, here and there.
You my loves, should not have to go through this same struggle. Therefore, I compiled 30 breakfast ideas featuring both Intercontinental and Naija mashups to provide a variety of yummy breakfast options.
And the icing on the cake is that I would be dropping links to the full step by step recipes of a number of these breakfast ideas to guide your preparation. Most of the recipes are tasty, time friendly and easy to whip up when ingredients are available.

1. Oat meal banana pancakes

2. Eggless pancakes, eggs and sausages/bacon
This can be made quite similar to the oat meal pancakes. The only difference is that in this case you leave out the banana and oat. Serve your Regular pancakes with some syrup and straw berries and then thank me later
3. Crepes and fruits
Crepes are delicious thinner and crispier versions of pancake made without baking powder. They can accommodate any filling or topping of your choice.
4. Banana bread and Greek youghurt
When good Greek youghurt and well made Banana bread meet up, they are sure to Satisfy your taste buds.

This smoothie can be taken alone as breakfast and it is absolutely filling thanks to the oats in there.
6. Mango / banana smoothie (MABA Filler)
The major difference between the MABA filler and MA filler is the addition of Bananas, it is definitely more filling.
7. Waffles, berries and youghurt
Waffle is a delight that can be made into many different flavors. Whichever flavor you decide on, pair your waffles with some berries and give yourself the breakfast that befits you.

8. Fried Plantain and Egg Sauce

The aesthetic of this dish is out of this world when made properly. It is absolutely mouth watering and makes for a great breakfast option.

14. Vegetable Salad and cold pressed juice
Vegetable salad remains amazing alone. You actually can’t go wrong with having it for breakfast, highly nutritious and light enough to keep you through the day. It can be paired with a cold pressed juice for a better fill.
15. Corned beef Toast
Sign me up for a toast breakfast anytime, any day. The link to my special corn beef sauce would be dropped down below. Now I am no fan of Tea with chocolate, but those who have tea with corn beef toast swear it is the next best thing after sliced bread.
16. Grilled turkey Sandwich
I absolutely love sandwich mash ups! This grilled turkey sandwich recipe ranks highly in my breakfast recipe and it isn’t one to be iignored! You would absolutely love this one guys! Super yummy and. nutritious.
17. French toast
French toast is a breakfast winner, it could be spiced up with strawberries/blue berries and paired with hot chocolate for better enjoyment.

The truth is that there are a million and one ways to make sandwich and Chicken sandwich is one of the best. A true breakfast winner with grand style.
19. Chia seed fruit pudding
I always wondered what the hype about Chia seed was till I discovered it’s amazing health benefits. This also takes a good spot on my list of breakfast ideas. With just a cup of milk, chia seeds, vanilla extract and any sweetener/fruits of your choice, you could treat yourself to this yummy breakfast.
20. Oat meal banana bread served with youghurt
Banana bread is already great alone, now spice it up with some oatmeal and watch its health benefits increase. As always banana bread, paired with some drinkable or Greek yoghurt remains blissful.
The only difference in making the oat meal Banana bread is the addition of soaked oat meal to the mix of wet ingredients. The recipe below would still come in handy.
21. Sliced bread, poached/scrambled eggs, sausages and baked beans (the proper English breakfast)
Is there even much to say about the proper English breakfast? It’s components speak for itself.
22. Fruit rich, cereal parfait
Though whipping up youghurt could be far fetched, you could always use store bought Greek youghurt for example to make your parfait, go wild with fruits of your choice, apples, bananas, berries and the likes, and to make it extra special, it could be whipped up with layers of our facourite golden morn cereal or any other similar cereal of choice, trust me there is no going wrong here.
23. Protein shake
Protein shakes are highly nutritious and filling, they make for great breakfast choices.
24. Plantain frittatas
This is a dish basically made with plantain, eggs and bell peppers/ proteins of your choice Remembering plantain frittatas has got me smiling, my brother and hubby would make jest of my experimental cooking with the “frittata” word. I must admit, it is a fascinating word, but even more, eating the actual plantain frittata comes with an unmatched taste bud feel.
25. Potato frittatas
Just as plantains serve as a good add on for frittatas, potatoes also do it some justice. Same style of preparation, only difference is the substitution of potatoes for plantain

30. Overnight soaked oats and fruits
Ever heard of leaving your oats overnight in the fridge, you don’t need to cook it. All you need are;
- 4 cups of rolled Old Fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup milk of choice
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Yes, you only need to combine these ingredients together and put in the fridge overnight. Try it and thank me later.
