MY top 16, (Local) gospel music II

Just as the picture says, sometimes what you listen to could impact on your personality, no matter how little. That’s the reason I am picky about the kinds of songs I expose my inner mind to.

Best believe guys that I couldn’t wait to drop my top 8 (local) gospel songs of 2022.

I must have told you that music is everything to me yeah? The right kind of music though.

No mattter how bad my day has been, when I listen to any of my jams, my mood is always elevated.

Now like I always say, the only thing in life that is constant, is change!

So, these songs are my current favorites, but of course with new releases and discoveries, my music priorities could change too. Regardless though, I would always, always love each and every one of these beautiful songs.

Let’s get right into it

8. Your Love by Limoblaze

Did I hear you say Limoblaze again? Yes ke! The guy has too many amazing songs to be ignored. This particular one imprinted a deep love. It is a melodious, danceable song which speaks about the unmatched kind of love and affection God has for his children. I Literally know the lyrics of this song like I know the national anthem.

6. Ayo – Ife

Ife, the singer of this joy filled song, has a beautiful sonorous voice that just can’t be ignored! The way this song blew into the gospel music scene was very surprising yet very well deserved!
It basically talks about God given joy, the one that is not determined by wealth or luxury things but that is determined by the gift of salvation.

5.Dide by Kenny Kore

I have had a love affair with this particular song for as far back as I can remember. Though it is an old release, it is still one of the top songs I listen to till date. Asides it’s beautiful use of my local Language (Yoruba), it is well put together and gets you on your dancing feet in seconds.

This song is one of a child of God asking his father to move on his behalf. Dide in English means to get up.

In this song, he beseeches God to get up and move on his behalf so humans around him see how great he is.

I would never forget the impact of this song in my life. A few years ago, I was to attend an interview I wasn’t qualified for. I was anxious and not to sure about showing up for the interview, however before I left home that morning, Kenny Kore’s song was on repeat. completed this particular job interview with no hassles whatsoever and secured myself a spot as a medical Officer on Lagos state Government’s pay roll.

4. Looku looku by Marizu

This is one of my son’s favorite songs! I can almost hear his tiny voice saying, “Mummy let’s play looku looku” He legit picks my phone up every time to search for this Jam and starts to move his tiny feet when the song starts to play.

The message of the song is that of thanks to God for the victory he continuously secures for his children. The singer further calls us to look at all the beautiful blessings his father has bestowed upon him. Beautiful, beautiful song!

3. Omo Baba by Spirit of Prophesy

The song ain’t your regular mehn! It quickly gained recognition in the country and the reason isn’t farfetched. You have to listen to it to understand what I mean.

Sang by a choir group in the local Yoruba dialect, it has a lot of swag and an absolutely banging. This is also one of my toddler’s favourite Jam. He would occasionally pick up my phone and say……….. “mama let’s play ‘Omo Baba’”

2. Okere gan by LCBeats (Seyi)

This song is well put together! You literally start nodding to the beat as soon as it comes on.

Leaving sentimental reasons behind, (I actually know the singer of this beautiful song) it has a super-duper dope and banging beat. I had a tough time deciding between this Jam and my no 1 song, however I have listened to the latter song much longer than I have grooved to Okere gan.

Okere gan speaks about how God and his nature of fulfilling every promise made to us. The singer further highlights how our pain and struggles are very little things compared to the glorious things he has in store for us.

Make way for my number one spot, it is no other than

1. Jireh (My provider) by Limoblaze ft Lecrae

I love this song madly! My husband made a joke once about hearing this song in his dreams, considering the number of times I play it at home.

Like how can you not just love this beautiful rendition of Maverick City music’s Jireh! Omo x a million. Everything makes sense about the song
