A gem by definition is something prized especially for great beauty and perfection. The Urban decay products of interest today, are by all standards gems. I am sorry but I just had to give a hint on how great these power products are before the review proper.
Fam! The first day I slayed a beat on myself using Urban decay’s hydrating primer (with the “Becca mattifying primer” for support on my T zones) it was pure magic! My make up literally did not shift, regardless of the weather condition. Ok, let’s reverse for a moment and do this the proper way. Ill’d be dissecting the primer first, before the sprays.
Urban decay hydrating primer
So, guys, I had and still have a few reservations about the Urban decay all nighter face primer. My reservation however comes from using it without its close companion; the all nighter make up long lasting setting spray. It’s like a ying and yang affair with these two.
So get this, the all nighter primer isn’t particularly made for the oily skin. I would expantiate on that in a bit. However, let me give a quick note on its appearance.
Appearance
It comes in a purple/ black pack with a world of information on it. The full name of this primer goes thus……….“Urban Decay, all nighter Face primer long wear foundation grip”
This pack opens up to a sleek black tube with a net weight of 1.0fl oz approximately 30mls and sparkling purple wordens adorning it. So, the amazing part of this tube is that it has a pump! This was a discovery…… amazing really doesn’t cut it guys. A primer with a pump, Yes please! Wastage is always reduced to the barest minimum with a pump.
Promises
So on the pack of the primer we are assured that it is an urban decay all nighter face primer long wear foundation grip which preps, smooths and perfects.
The producers particularly state that this primer grips your foundation and won’t want to let go (I actually found this quite interesting)
They go on to say that it is a lightweight formula that perfects the skin and leaves it feeling smooth, hydrated and slightly lifted.
Perfomance
For starters, I would say that this primer definitely leaves the skin feeling smooth and hydrated. It almost feels like a moisturizer y’all and they told no lies about the product being light weight.
What I can’t categorically tell you though is whether or not it holds your foundation tight because I am not too sure about the context they are referring to. I would however say that it is a pretty decent primer whose performance is perfected when used with its setting spray.
My Rating
Illd give this product a solid 7 out of 10
Setting sprays
The Urban decay setting spray has two varieties worthy of mention. The first is the Urban decay’s all nighter long lasting setting spray and the second is the [vitamin C] infused Urban decay all nighter setting spray.
Now a burning question to ask might be; what differentiates these two setting sprays? At least that was the question I had when I came across the variants of Urban decay sprays. However, after experiencing both setting sprays, I am here to spill fam.
Let’s start with the regular Urban decay spray. I got the small size for starters, that is the 15mls [0.5 fl oz]. This was what I could afford at the time. I definitely do not regret the buy, illd tell you why soon. But first, the review proper.
All nighter Urban Decay setting spray {regular}
Appearance
The small size I purchased came in a petite pack with many great promises splattered across it. The pack further opens to a spray bottle with black and purple as its main colors. This spray bottle is blessed with a pump which is super functional, it sure dispenses our product of interest satisfactorily.
Promises
You are gonna love this one fam! From the name it is obvious that this product was made to wither the storm lol! After all it is called all nighter for a reason.
On the product pack, yummy promises behold us, such as
- Light weight and breathable
- No make up cracking or flaking
- Transfer resistant
- All day wear temperature control
- Leaves the skin feeling energized and moisturized
Performance
Does this product keep to its promise? As a combination skin babe, I currently have a love affair with this setting spray and I am definitely unashamed! I won’t even bother outlining each promise just know that all promises listed above are facts Y’all! Except for maybe the transfer resistant part. It does transfer a tiny bit.
This was the gem that held my 30th birthday face beat in place all day long. I was beyond amazed; no sweat or nose bridge oil popped out during my long shooting hours. Illd rate this spray a 10 out of 10 subtracting nothing!
The all nighter setting spray vitamin C infused}
Appearance
This Urban decay product was presented to us in a Yellow pack, which opens to a Yellow spray bottle with an equally good dispenser. They however sold this product as though it was the improved version of the regular setting spray, now that I have used it though, I laugh in disbelieve.
Promises
When I felt the need to upgrade to a bigger size of the regular spray, I came across our yellow stunt double. I mean, a setting spray which was said to be vitamin C and cactus flower infused has to be amaze balls right? It was giving skin care vibes.
It claims to be a powerful, hydrating all nighter spray that stops make up meltdowns and could be used on the bare skin or before makeup. Does it keep to its promise?
Performance
All I would say is, please give me my regular all nighter spray with the black and purple magic. I prefer it over this particular yellow, all nighter spray. This yellow magic just didn’t work for me, respectfully.
I won’t lie, it feels good when sprayed on the skin, but it certainly did not give me the all nighter matte effect like it’s counterpart. While this spray however felt more hydrating, the regular Urban decay spray gave a more matte effect. I would say that this yellow urban decay good ness might work better for those with dry/normal skin.
Rating
I would rate this particular spray, a 6 out of 10. It honestly didn’t do much for my combination skin
