In my little time spent on earth, I have learnt to make use of one of the powerful weapons our Heavenly Father gifted us; His words!
You might not believe it now but there is always a word from God for every situation. When it gets tough, repeating these words and promises he has so freely given to us, make all the difference.
As much as it saddens me, I feel like I slept on the power of God’s words for far too long! The turning point for me was when I became a member of the wonderful family; Convenant Christian Nation, formerly Convenant Christian Centre (C3) pastored by Minister Poju Oyemade.
I was invited to the church by my then fiancée (now hubby) and I must say that my life never remained the same.
Now don’t get me wrong, every ministry has it’s strength, for some it is prayer, for some it is praise and worship, while others immerse you into the word.
Now that’s my forte!! Basking in and understanding his words is what I live for!
I have continually realized how powerful God’s words are, especially in my life.
You know the thing, there is something magical about picking up the Bible! You could actually read a Bible passage today that speaks to your current situation, pick it up some other time, read the same passage and get a brand new perspective and dimension to the same words.
Versatile, and all encompassing is what comes to mind with this magnificent holy book.
What I am trying to say is that the word of God keeps giving! It never stops! Hallelujah somebody!
All we should pray for is that our Heavenly Father opens our eyes and understanding to every word in this amazing book he so lovingly blessed all of mankind with.
The inspiration for this particular post was born from the need to share with y’all some of God’s powerful words that have helped me at different phases of my life to overcome trials. These words continue to remain very useful even till date.
8 POWERFUL BIBLE VERSES (TSJ’S FAVOURITES)
1. Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.
https://bible.com/bible/116/jer.29.11.NLT
This has steady been my all time favorite bible verse!
You see the thing about this verse, it became a daily part of my living when I discovered how powerful a tool it is. This discovery stemmed from a terrible dream I had some years back. I was distraught, and consumed with fear after waking from this dream. God however never stops watching over his children.
I confided in someone I hold in very high esteem, and through him I discovered this bible verse that has helped me overcome my fears. I now know without reasonable doubt that our God is good, with great plans for his children. Every single time I say this verse out loud, I have renewed confidence in his promises, you should try it too.
2. 2Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline
https://bible.com/bible/116/2ti.1.7.NLT
I used to be pretty much fear filled in my younger days, for reasons I can’t even place anymore. I have now come to realize that God never gave me ; his child a fear filled spirit, but that of power, love and a sound mind. My life as I knew it changed for good as soon as I keyed into this word!
3. Phillipians 4:13
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
https://bible.com/bible/116/php.4.13.NL
There have been so many times I have felt frail and incapable of doing great things. As real as it seemed to me then, I started to realize that true strength comes from him alone.
I would continue to sing to the world that God takes glory over every and anything I have ever achieved in this life. It has been by his grace and power, not me but him alone gives all the strength required.
4. THE WORRY VERSES
Matthew 6:25-27 NLT
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?”
https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.6.6-25.NLT
“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?”
https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.6.26.NLT
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
Worry has always been a Menance, it took many years of struggle to realize that worry actually solves nothing!
So instead, I have learnt to navigate towards trusting God completely, laying all of my burdens at his feet and thanking him for all he has done.
This bible verse always helps me remember to dodge all forms of worry because they are certainly unproductive.
5. Matthew 11:28 NLT
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.11.28.NLT
Resting in God’s love is paramount to navigating our life journey. A walk without God’s guidance is always one devoid of peace. We need him!
He has promised us rest when we come to him, so why not lay your burdens at his feet and find unmatched rest.
6. Philippians 4:19 NLT
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
https://bible.com/bible/116/php.4.19.NLT
Long and short of this bible verse, our Heavenly Father always provides for his children. Never forget that, especially when it might seem like there is a form of “lack” in any aspect of your life.
7. Hebrews 6:14 NLT
Blessing I will bless you, multiplying I would multiply you, after you might have patiently endured. (Mama’s favorite verse and version)
https://bible.com/bible/116/heb.6.14.NLT
So about this verse! It has recently become one of my favorite bible verses of all times, thanks to my lovely mother. You see, she always repeats it anytime I am down/distraught. Each time I remember this verse I remember God’s promises and hold tightly on to them, regardless of the situation.
8. John 16:33 KJV
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.16.33.KJV
This particular verse needs amplification!
When I became born in Christ, I had initially felt that life was going to be a walk in a park full of roses. Contrary to my belief, trials hit unexpectedly and I started to think all sorts. I was clueless as to why a Christian, a born again, and child of God like me should ever even have trials.
But I got it wrong, just like many other Christians out there. This verse is confirmation that though the trials and tribulations would come, and are sometimes very much needed, we need to find peace in him because he has conquered the world.
So guys those are my 8 mantras.
it has been an absolute pleasure sharing these Bible verses with you. I do hope you discover many other timeless and Golden words from God to help you navigate this trial filled earth, in preparation for eternal life, where there would be no more sorrow. Much love always from TSJ
