We all probably have memories of our parents’ making promises they never fulfilled. From my experience, it could be a disappointing and frustrating situation. Most times, it is not that our parents didn’t feel the need to come through with their promises, but rather that they were devoid of the means and capabilities to follow through. Yes, failed promises are difficult to deal with. I avoid anyone who tries to make them, but I have come to realize that the one who would never fail on his promise to his children is our Heavenly Father. Quote me anywhere, and I would stand with my full chest to say that he is reliable, regardless of the circumstance.. If he said it, then he is definitely going to do it. As humans, even when God’s promises to us are crystal clear, we still end up doubting and worrying about what he graciously promised us. I know this for a fact because I have been there countless times. Infact, this feeling isn’t strange to me, the only difference now is that I have become better at waiting on God. Lack of patience on the human side is solely responsible for the huge barrier between God’s promise to bless his children and his children receiving these blessings. The common mistake we make is that we try to fit God’s schedule for our lives into our timelines. It is quite hilarious that we find ourselves playing God, so much so, that we forget about our all-knowing almighty father who is ever ready to ease our burdens. Remember this fam, He is never too late neither is He ever too early, He is instead, always right on time! God is not bound by our man-made timelines. |
Do you remember the concept of Faith?
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrew 11:1
God gave us a promise, but we can’t seem to see it in the physical yet, so what do we do?
Brethren, the best thing to do is to hold on to his promises through faith. Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you that holding on to God’s promises and having faith go hand in hand. It does not matter how impossible things may seem, once I have heard from the ruler of both the heavens and the earth, it is settled. I don’t necessarily need to know how it would come to be guys, all I am intentional about, is praising and thanking him through the wait period. Trust me, this is actually easier said than done, however, it is something I have come to understand from my personal experiences.
In the book of Genesis, we see the story of Abraham and God’s great promises to him.
“Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
Genesis 15:5 NLT
Now this promise was a heavy promise, you could almost call it impossible Fam! Even Abraham was initially taken back by this promise, seeing as he was childless and elderly at the time. One thing that however stands out about Abraham is his great faith! Don’t get it twisted, believing and having such great faith doesn’t come easy but can be done by his grace alone. Once Abraham keyed into God’s promises for his life, everything changed. That was the turning point. Our father’s words can never fallback void, he is highly dependable. He has the track record of keeping his word, once he has said it, he would do it.
I don’t know what you might be believing God for at the moment. Perhaps you have heard word from him on his promise for your life and you just can’t see it becoming a reality, I would like to refer you back to Abraham’s story, furthermore, I am testifying about God’s promises with my life story. He is not bound by human impossibilities or limits. Regardless of what the situation looks like, know that he is God, and he is in constantly working it out for your good!
The wait period isn’t the most pleasurable, but it is certainly a valid period. In the waiting season, many are broken and built even stronger. This is simultaneous to an order, re-order, disorder sort of thing. Meanwhile, some others, are attaining the requirements for the higher phase our Lord has carefully prepared for them.
On a parting note, please never lose hope, keep believing and keep your faith burning stronger. God would show up and magnificently too. Peace be unto you.
