Stir fry Spaghetti

Hey guys! Just in case it is almost Lunch time wherever you are, I have a mouth watering delicacy just for you! Again, this could also be consumed comfortably for Dinner and is Uber Nutritious. The first time I ever tried stir fry spaghetti was back in Medical school.

There were two guys back then who made a living from selling stir fry spaghetti to students for Dinner, and I decided to hop on to their stir fry train. It was great for a while. 

But you see, over time these guys started to get ahead of themselves and compromise on quality. It was the last straw for me when they so slightly uncooked spaghetti on one of my hungry nights. I decided to commence making stir fry spaghetti myself. 

it is important to note that stir fry spaghetti has no single rigid recipe and you could go either big with veggies and protein or use the barest minimum.

Sauces are also a very essential part of any stir fry pasta recipe. Your choice of sauces is definitely left to you Fam. Shall we take a brief history of Stir fry spaghetti?

Brief history of Stir fry spaghetti 

First off, by definition, Stir frying is a cooking technique in which ingredients are usually fried in a little amount of hot oil while being stirred/tossed in a wok. It is a cooking technique known to have originated from China aboit 1500 years ago and from there adapted from other groups world wide. 

Stir fry spaghetti is one of the commonest delicacies served across the world in restaurants/cuisines round the world. We all have our varying renditions of it, and I would be sharing mine today.

Instructions

  1. Prep your necessary ingredients such as the veggies and proteins, Dice them into smaller, edible pieces.
  2. Sauté them nicely with a pinch of salt and your cayenne, paprika spices, set aside. 
  3. In a small and  clean frying pan, put in 1/4 cup of oil, some diced onions and your scotch bonnet pepper, sauté lightly and then add in your tomato paste, mix and allow to simmer for a minute or two
  4. Pour in your minced meat and cook for about 8-10mins or till minced meat is thoroughly cooked. Don’t forget to add some boullion cubes, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Set your cooked minced meat aside. 
  5. In a clean pot, add in some clean water, a drop or 2 of oil and some salt to taste, wait for the water to boil a bit before pouring in your spaghetti (This step is to prevent your pasta from becoming sticky or soggy) 
  6. Cook your pasta for a bit over 8 mins and drain the water with a sieve to prepare for your stir fry. 
  7. In another pan, pour in 1/2 cup of oil, followed closely by your veggies, allow the veggies to cook for a min or two then proceed with your cooked minced meat and diced proteins 
  8. After a min or two, add in your cooked pasta, closely followed by your sweet chilli sauce, worchestire sauce, sour sauce, boullion cubes to taste, your cayenne and paprika pepper. 
  9. Commence with the wrist twisting to achieve the perfect stir fry and ensure that every inch of your pasta is fully quoted.

  • 550g Spaghetti (I usually use golden penny)
  • Minced meat (100g)
  • Diced/cooked  chicken breasts (80g)
  • Cooked prawns (optional)
  • Bell peppers (a quarter of red, yellow and green)
  • One small onion bulb (diced)
  • Scotch bonnet pepper (two small)
  • One and a half stick of carrots
  • Tomato paste one satchet
  • Cooking oil (3/4 cup)
  • Bouillion cubes
  • Worchestire sauce (1/2 tsp)
  • Sweet chilli sauce (1 tbs)
  • Soy sauce (1 tbs)
  • Spices (cayenne, black pepper, paprika pepper)
